What we put on our skin is just as important as what we put into our body. Non-organic ingredients being rubbed into our skin is counteractive to what it is we are attempting to accomplish. Non-organic cosmetics add all of the non-organic ingredients into our daily face regimens. This means we are potentially adding GMO’s, pesticides and other horrific chemicals to our skin which ultimately carries on into our bloodstream. Obviously the skin is porous and will absorb whatever you are putting on it. Think of the involuntarily exposure to the skin such as environmental and atmospheric elements. To counteract skin damage, we attempt to go through corrective measures by smearing store bought crap all over our faces. The marketing is usually brilliant in a way that implies that what they are selling is actually good for the skin and body. On the contrary! This actually couldn’t be further from the truth, in most cases. Look at the ingredients and educate yourself. If you don’t recognize what an ingredient is, it is likely not something you should be putting onto your skin.
I love this simple, natural and organic facial and is a time-tested old recipe. The lemon, just to name a couple, is a natural antioxidant and lightener to help with dark spots and sun damage. The honey leaves the skin feeling amazingly soft because it is naturally antibacterial as well it is an anti-inflammatory that absorbs impurities from the pores and softens skin! I use this mask daily. Sometimes I only have time to leave it on for a minute or so as I brush my teeth and at other times, on weekend mornings or evenings, I leave it on for 20+ minutes.
DIY Honey Lemon Mask:
- Start with a freshly washed face, make-up removed.
- Squeeze 1/2 an ORGANIC lemon into a small bowl, add 1-2 TBS of honey (organic & raw it has the highest level of antibacterial properties). Mix until syrupy.
- Apply to face, avoiding eye area. Leave on for 15-20 minutes (or as long as you have time for) and rinse!
Use this mask as little or as much as your skin would like. Maybe take some before and after shots and share!
